Suffice it to say that Apple TV is not the only game in town.  Earlier this year, Google TV was announced along with Logitech heralding the delivery of a companion box in the fall.  Well, the days are already getting noticeably shorter and as pumpkins, broomsticks and sweet treats bombard us everywhere we turn so does the imminent arrival of the Logitech Revue as a Google TV delivery vehicle.

So just what is Google TV?  Here’s a short video that explains it nicely:

Rest assured that Logitech will hardly be the only player in this space and at a list price of $299, it will hardly be flying off the shelves.  Rumors have it that it may be available at a discount in conjunction with Service Providers such as Dish Network ($179).  Depending on its execution, however, it may give one pause to consider the added value that a device can bring to the home viewing experience by combining web media, television programming, the ability to search on demand, access Android Apps and the ability to record content – all from the comfort of one’s couch.  Pretty cool, no?

Logitech has announced an invitation only event this coming Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 3PM ET in New York City.
