Apple Wants Non Mobile Customers Too

With cable and satellite TV prices on the rise, many consumers have turned to alternative forms of home entertainment. Among the most popular these days is the “Set Top Box”. Set top boxes are devices that allow you to stream movies, music and other forms of media directly to your television, either from a hard drive or from the web.
Having already secured a strong foothold on the mobile device market, Apple is hoping to make its presence known in your home theater with the release of their new Apple TV. Earlier models of Apple TV were released with less than rave reviews. This version hopes to make up for previous woes by offering full 1080p streaming and the introduction of cloud-based storage. This will allow nearly unlimited storage capacity, at a yet unannounced price. For those who want to keep their movie collection close, you can stream locally via Time Capsule, Apples back up hard drive system.
The new Apple TV is shedding the old OSX operating system and going with the extremely popular iPhone OS, found on the iPad and iPhone. At this time however, there is no word about App support for the device. Whether or not the new Apple TV will be as popular as Apples other products remains to be seen, but the rumored 99 dollar price tag makes it affordable enough for most of us to try out. We’ll fill you in when we have one of our own.
